ESL COURSE DESCRIPTION

ESL OVERVIEW:

Brighter Future’s English as a Second Language (ESL) Levels 1, 2, and 3 Class are designed to help non-native speakers with limited English proficiency.  Each class includes an intensive reading component facilitated by the reading teacher in conjunction with each ESL module.

The process of acquiring a second language is neither swift nor simple. Concepts are introduced and applied in each lesson in order to provide parents of Elementary School children with adequate opportunities to assimilate
information. Information about daily life, values, history and family are taught in order to help students become acquainted with American society.

Real life topics such as health, employment, banking, child’s school and transportation are covered to learn the appropriate speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

While parents are learning language skills, they are also learning to access, evaluate, and use new vocabulary or grammar structures they need to  complete any planned activity. Speaking/discussion activities usually take up the bulk
of our lesson time. We break up into small groups or pairs.
